Belgian Luxembourg, a province to experience!

The province of Luxembourg, the southernmost province of Belgium, covers 4440 km², i.e. 1/7 of the Belgian territory. It's therefore the largest province of Belgium but paradoxically the less populated +/- 260.000 inhabitants. Half wooded, it has concentrated on its territory the largest part of the Walloon forest.

If Belgian Luxembourg first appears as a vast forested domain, one meets a large diversity of middles (rivers, lakes...). Nature therefore, in all its aspects, has more than its due.

North and center, the relief is made of « high-plateaus » with, as the highest part of the province, the Baraque de Fraiture at an altitude of 652 m . In the South, the Gaume region is characterized by its "cuestas", small gentle south-facing slopes and a milder climate.

Location and accessibility

  • By car
  • By train
  • By plane

The 2 main roads E411 and E25 and the secondary roads provide an easy and not congested access to the province of Luxembourg and the various proximity markets. It's also the best way to discover the magnificent landscapes.

Traveling time to drive from Brussels to the north of the province is 1h15; which is approximately the time needed to cross Brussels.!

ECONOMY AND… TOURISM

The province has a fine network of PME (small and medium sized companies). In addition to the exploiting of its natural resources (wood, agriculture, stone, cattle breeding...), tourism represents a complete economy sector estimated at close to 6000 jobs.

The tourist market, has become a real tool of development and an important purveyor of jobs, both direct and indirect. The Ardennes attract millions of tourists each year, who come mainly from Belgium but also from abroad, mainly from neighboring countries.
Visitors mainly come on vacations, to recharge their batteries, find some serenity and quiet in contact with the preserved nature !

The number of beds in Luxembourg is close to 50,000 commercial beds shared between accommodations such as hotels, camping sites, holiday villages, gites and guest rooms  spearhead of our province.
Over 400 brasseries-restaurants, of which 5 have Michelin stars and 18 Michelin « bib gourmand » , remarkable proof of the know-how of our chefs and of the good value for money provided by our destination.
A network of attractions, fine cultural curiosities enliven the moments of relaxation. Land of encounters, of sharing, our province adds to its immaterial cultural heritage of  UNESCO  2 of its local specialties « the Ardennes' ham » and « the Pâté gaumais » and also 2 great events, « the agricultural fair of Libramont » and « the Festivities of Saint-Hubert » that attract thousands of visitors each year.

But what the tourist appreciates and looks for when coming here, are the values of the Ardennes and its inhabitants : the Well-being, the Authenticity, the Enchantment and the Sharing. Reasons that have incited the Province of Luxembourg to develop in partnership with the other actors of the Belgian Ardennes, the French Ardennes and the Grand Duchy, a European tourist project « Marque Ardenne » with the goal of favoring the trans-frontier valors of the Ardennes' and boost its appeal.

The goal in tourism is to « stick» as much as possible to the requests of a evermore  demanding clientèle, by providing quality innovative products, that meet their most detailed expectations, while enhancing the assets of our territory and the valors of the Ardennes.
